Home Council Campaigns & Projects

Congleton Town Council is proud to support and champion a wide range of campaigns, projects and community initiatives that help make our town a better place to live, work and visit. While many public services are delivered by other organisations, including Cheshire East Council and external agencies, we actively represent the views of local residents by responding to consultations, lobbying decision-makers and advocating for improvements that matter to our community.

This page highlights the campaigns and initiatives that the Town Council supports, endorses or is directly involved in. We are always keen to hear about issues that are important to local people. If there is a campaign, project or cause you would like the Council to consider supporting, please get in touch with the Community Committee and share your ideas.

Ongoing Campagins or Projects

Breastfeeding Welcome

Congleton Town Council supports the CHERUBS Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme, which encourages businesses, community venues and organisations to create a welcoming environment for breastfeeding mothers.

Breastfeeding is protected under the Equality Act 2010, and the scheme helps normalise feeding in public by identifying venues where mothers can feel comfortable and supported. Participating venues simply display a Breastfeeding Welcome sticker to show their commitment.

Locally, we are aware of the following recognised venues (if you know of more, please let us know) Congleton Museum, Higher Ground Café Bar, Friendly Faces Nursery, Bromley Farm Hub and Kanga Health.

Congleton Town Hall is proud to be part of the scheme, alongside several local businesses and community organisations. Any business or organisation wishing to join can contact the CHERUBS team for further information via email to: wcnt.cherubsbreastfeeding@nhs.net

Safe Place Scheme

Congleton Town Council and the local Police team support the Safe Place Scheme, providing young people with a safe place to go if they feel threatened, intimidated or need adult support while in the town centre.

Participating businesses display a Safe Place sticker in their window. Young people can seek refuge inside, where staff can offer support and, if necessary, contact a parent, the police or CCTV operators.

Participating Outlets: Bare Health, Congleton Information Centre, Congleton Library, Glamorous, Happy Garden, K9 Raw, M & Co, Norris Health, Serenity Designs, Spa Canal Road, Sugarplum Hair Salon, Timothy Brown Estate Agents.

The scheme was developed in partnership with local businesses, with a growing number of shops and organisations taking part. Any suitable public-facing business with public liability insurance can join the scheme. For more information, contact Congleton Town Council on 01260 270350.
