The Council has 22 Councillors serving five wards. Councillors are not paid and are elected every four years to serve the people living and working in their areas.

The most recent elections were held in May 2023. The next will be May 2027. Congleton Town Council works through a series of committees, each focusing on key areas like planning, finance, community, and the environment. Councillors meet regularly to discuss issues and make recommendations, which are then considered by the Full Council. This structure helps the Council work efficiently and respond effectively to local needs.

The Town Mayor of Congleton is elected annually by a vote of the Council. The Mayor chooses a charity for their year in office and raises money. Click here for more information about the Town Mayor.
