Saturday 29th February 2020 will be a bonus
day for all with it being a leap year, but especially for those who visit
Congleton Town Centre on this day. To mark the leap year and the end of the
Fiver Fest Fortnight, many shops and businesses in Congleton are participating
in the first Congleton Bonus Day.

The aim is get more people shopping locally and so on
this day, when spending £5 or more in the participating shops, you will be
given a raffle ticket. Fill in your details and you could be in with a chance
of winning vouchers to spend in the participating stores.

The local shops and businesses participating in the Congleton Bonus Day are: Bare Health, Bear Grills, Boots Opticians, Browns Jewellers, Carl Christopher, Congleton Kitchen, Congleton Oatcakes, Damand, Davenports, David James Menswear, Grace Brown Interiors, Hollins & Hollinshead Jewellers, House to Home, Isobel’s Fashion House, Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe, No.1 West Street, RJ& J Moore Greengrocers, Rogers Barbers, Ruby’s Fund Charity Shop, Specsavers, Sweet Pea, The Little Shop, Vision Express, Wendy’s Pet Salon and Wild & Wild Café.

Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Sally Ann Holland said “I’m
really looking forward to Congleton’s first Bonus Day and I think it’s great
that the local shops and businesses are getting behind this event. It’s a
Makers Market weekend, which usually means a few thousand extra people in town.
We hope that many of the people coming for the Makers Market will also venture
into our wonderful shops.”

Congleton’s Bonus Day also sees an end to another first
for Congleton, the Totally Locally February Fiver Fest. Over 30 local
independent shops took part in this from 15th-29th
February, again with the aim of getting more people to shop locally. If every adult
in Congleton spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops and
businesses, instead of online, it would mean an extra £5.2 million per year
going back into the local economy, making for a better High Street and better
place to live, work and visit.
