Congleton Town Council has proudly presented Congleton Dental Centre with a High Street Award in recognition of its 40 years of dedicated service to the town and its community.
Jenny Furnival accepted the award on behalf of the practice from Deputy Town Mayor, Councillor Suzy Firkin, celebrating the dental centre’s long-standing contribution to Congleton and its role in keeping generations of local families smiling bright.
The Deputy Town Mayor said: "Congleton Dental Centre is a true cornerstone of our community. For 40 years, they have provided exceptional care to local families while remaining committed to the NHS. It’s businesses like this that give our town its character and make our high streets thrive."
Founded in 1985 by Dr Andrew Mellor, Congleton Dental Centre originally operated from a single surgery at 73 West Street. In 2006, the practice moved to its current location at 11 West Street and has since grown to include eight state-of-the-art treatment rooms, a fully computerised record and appointment system, and digital radiograph imaging.
The practice has always remained loyal to the National Health Service, offering the full range of available NHS treatments. Now run by Dr Mellor’s daughter, Carly, the family business employs 39 staff. Jenny Furnival, a long-standing member of the team, has been with the practice since its early days and has grown alongside it, witnessing its expansion from a single surgery in a terraced house to the modern facility it is today.
Congleton Town Council’s High Street Awards Scheme celebrates businesses that have traded in the town for at least five years and continue to make a positive contribution to both community life and the local economy. Eligible businesses must have a physical shop front or premises in the town centre or one of the local shopping parades and be actively selling products or goods. Any resident can nominate a qualifying business.
The Town Mayor added: "I encourage residents to nominate their favourite long-standing businesses. These awards recognise the people and places that give Congleton its character and help keep our high streets vibrant."
Nominations can be submitted via the online form on the Congleton Town Council website: High Street Awards - Congleton Town Council, or by requesting a paper copy.
