Congleton Town Council has proudly presented Swan Brides Boutique with a High Street Award in recognition of its 15 years of dedicated service to the town and its community.
The award was presented to owner Victoria Stradling by the Town Mayor, Councillor Robert Brittain, celebrating the boutique’s long-standing contribution to Congleton and its role in supporting generations of local brides.
Swan Brides Boutique, located at 9 Park Street, Congleton, first opened its doors in 2010 and has since become a cherished part of the town’s bridal landscape. The business is owned by Victoria Stradling, who grew up in Congleton and remains deeply passionate about the town and about ensuring her independent business continues to thrive locally.
Renowned for its personalised service and expert guidance, Swan Brides offers wedding dresses to suit all budgets, with collections from leading designers including Stella York, Dando London, Ellis Bridal and Plus size by Stella York. The boutique also benefits from having its own in-house seamstress, allowing brides to receive expert alterations and a truly tailored experience under one roof.
The boutique is housed in a striking Grade II listed building on Park Street, originally established as the town’s Cottage Hospital in 1866. The Georgian-fronted property retains many stunning original features, adding to its unique character and historic significance.
Presenting the award, the Town Mayor, Councillor Robert Brittain, said: “Swan Brides is a fantastic example of a business that combines professional excellence with genuine community pride. Victoria’s strong connection to Congleton, along with her commitment to offering inclusive, high-quality bridal services, reflects exactly what the High Street Awards are about. We are delighted to recognise Swan Brides for 15 years of outstanding service.”
Like many businesses in the wedding industry, Swan Brides faced significant challenges during and after the Covid-19 pandemic, a period which saw weddings postponed and other wedding businesses close in Congleton. The boutique has shown resilience during this difficult time and is now seeing renewed confidence in the sector, with a noticeable increase in weddings booked for 2026 and beyond.
Swan Brides continues to engage with the wider wedding community through regular events and by attending local wedding fayres, where brides-to-be can meet Victoria and her team and discover the boutique’s latest collections.
Upcoming events include the popular “Sip, See & Say Yes” evening on Friday 27 February, from 6pm to 8pm, offering brides an opportunity to enjoy a relaxed evening of inspiration, fizz, and expert advice. The boutique will also be running a 25% extra discount on all sale wedding dresses from 30 January to 2 February 2026.
Congleton Town Council’s High Street Awards Scheme celebrates businesses that have traded in the town for at least five years and continue to make a positive contribution to community life and the local economy. Any resident can nominate a business located in the town centre or one of the local shopping parades.
The Town Mayor added: “I encourage residents to nominate their favourite long-standing businesses. These awards recognise the people and places that give Congleton its character and help keep our high streets vibrant.”
Nominations can be submitted via the online form on the Congleton Town Council website: High Street Awards - Congleton Town Council or by requesting a paper copy.
