Congleton Town Council is proud to continue recognising the town’s long-serving businesses through its successful High Street Awards Scheme. The initiative honours businesses—whether independent or national—that have shown a strong commitment to serving the people of Congleton through a physical presence in the town centre or its local shopping parades. These awards celebrate the role such businesses play in keeping Congleton’s high street vibrant, accessible, and full of character.
The new Town Mayor, Cllr Robert Brittain, has confirmed that the High Street Awards will continue during his term of office. Originally launched by former Mayor Cllr Kay Wesley (2024–2025), the initiative recognises long-standing businesses that have shown dedication to Congleton. Cllr Brittain said: “We want to celebrate the businesses that have been here through thick and thin—those who’ve supported the town, built local relationships, and contributed to Congleton’s character. The Awards are a small way of saying thank you and encouraging people to shop local.
I invite residents to nominate their favourite long-standing business for recognition. Each business will receive a certificate of appreciation and a window sticker showing their year of service, proudly displaying their contribution to Congleton’s history and economy.”
