Congleton people
are invited to the annual Town Meeting which will take place in Congleton Town
Hall on Thursday 16th May at 7pm. This is not a Council meeting but
a meeting for the people of Congleton where questions can be raised. The
meeting must be held before the end of May each year.

Doors open
at 6.30pm and there will be a chance to have a hot drink and look at display
boards ahead of the start of the meeting at 7pm. The meeting will be chaired by
the Town Mayor, Cllr Suzie Akers Smith who will give a quick review of the
year. Other presentations include the Neighbourhood Plan, Update of the
Cenotaph, Congleton Hydro Scheme, Working towards a Dementia Friendly Congleton
and an update on the Elizabeth Group.

The presentations will be followed by a question and answer
session, and then an open session where anyone can ask questions and raise
issues that concern Congleton. The meeting is expected to close at 8.30pm

Chief Officer, David McGifford said: “The Annual Town Meeting
is a great chance for local people to get together and ask questions about
issues affecting the town. It is not a Council meeting, and any councillors
attending does so in a personal capacity. Issues raised in the meeting will be
picked up by the Council or forwarded to the appropriate organisation for
consideration. I hope that many local residents and representatives from local
organisations will take the time to attend.”
