Congleton Town Centre has once again come alive with festive cheer following the annual Christmas Window Competition, organised by Congleton Town Council. Local businesses embraced the Christmas spirit, transforming their shop windows into eye-catching and imaginative displays as they competed for the coveted title of Best Christmas Window Display 2025.

Rachel McCarthy, Congleton Town Council’s Town Centre and Events Officer, praised the continued success of the competition: “We’ve had another fantastic response this year, with an exceptionally high standard of entries. Each year we see businesses investing more time, creativity and effort into their displays. The competition not only spreads Christmas cheer throughout the town but also strengthens community engagement and encourages residents to support our local independent traders during this important time of year.”

A panel of representatives faced the enjoyable yet challenging task of judging the entries, which were assessed on overall impact, creativity, effort, and seasonal appropriateness. Following careful deliberation and scoring, the 2025 winners were announced as:

  • 1st Place – Bare Health, High Street, securing first place for the third consecutive year
  • 2nd Place – The Coffee House, located in the Bridestones Shopping Centre
  • 3rd Place – Chris Hamriding Estate Agents, High Street

The winning businesses were presented with certificates and a share of the cash prize by Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Robert Brittain, in recognition of their outstanding festive displays.

Mel Ratcliffe, owner of Bare Health, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have received first-place for the third year in a row. There were so many beautiful and creative displays across the town, and it’s been wonderful to see Congleton looking so vibrant and festive. We’re truly grateful to be part of such a supportive local community.”

Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Robert Brittain, congratulated all participating businesses, adding: “Well done to every business that took part and helped create such a welcoming festive atmosphere across the town centre and High Town. Christmas is the busiest time of year for retailers, and the commitment shown by local businesses to enhance the town despite their busy schedules is commendable. I encourage residents and visitors alike to enjoy the displays and support our local shops this Christmas.”

In addition to the overall winners, all participating businesses received Highly Commended or Commended certificates to proudly display in their windows, recognising the effort and creativity shown throughout the competition.

The town’s Christmas lights will be illuminated daily from 3pm to 11pm throughout the festive season and into the New Year. Congleton Town Hall will also be brought to life with a special Christmas projection, running until 4 January between 4pm and midnight. The Town Council extends its sincere thanks to Whittaker & Biggs for kindly providing office space for the projection equipment, and to Lightec for delivering this stunning festive display.
