Congleton’s Royal Visit

Congleton will be visited by The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on Wednesday 24th January 2018.

Their Royal Highnesses will visit The Old Saw Mill, a community hub run by volunteers, where they will meet local groups and residents who use their facilities including crafts and dance groups. This is followed by a visit to the Treo Memorial Statue on Lawton Street, a statue dedicated to a local army dog who was awarded the Dickin medal- the highest award any animal can receive whilst serving in military conflict. The Congleton visit will be finished by attending a Celebration of 700 years of Mayoralty in Congleton with a reception for local charities and community representatives at the Town Hall. Invited guests are asked to be in the Town Hall from 12.00pm ahead of the arrival of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.

There will be a road closure in place from 10.00am - 5.00pm. The roads which will be closed for the duration of the visit will be:

High Street- from both Barclays and NatWest Bank up towards the Town Hall- there will be access to Moody and Chapel Street
Lawton Street to the junction of Cole Hill Bank
Kinsey Street
Canal Street- no access onto the High Street or Lawton Street- but possible to travel through Chapel Street and Moody Street.
