Congleton In Bloom retained its GOLD status in the RHS North West in Bloom competition in 2024 and has competed in the national Britain In Bloom finals in summer 2025!

Congleton has been awarded gold by NWIB each year since 2012.

The town has had the honour and challenge of representing the North West in the national finals of the Britain in Bloom competition on several occasions, winning a silver gilt in 2009 and a gold medal in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2022!

The numerous In Bloom initiatives help to make Congleton a cleaner and greener place to live, work and visit. We work closely with our partners, sponsors and other groups e.g. Trees for Congleton, Congleton Food4free and Congleton Partnership.

Congleton In Bloom 2024-25 – Aims and Objectives

To make Congleton a clean, green town through anti-litter campaigns, organising litter picks, removal of graffiti & fly posting, improving local grot spots and recycling campaigns
To encourage biodiversity, energy conservation, sustainable planting and growing food locally
To promote wellbeing through gardening and being outside in nature
To provide opportunities for volunteers in the community to become involved either individually or in groups & encourage people to take pride where they live and work
To raise standards and promote the town by entering competitions such as RHS Britain in Bloom
To make Congleton an attractive place to live, work and visit, promoting tourism and supporting the retail sector by providing attractive floral displays and green spaces
To encourage our Eco Schools and parks to gain international green flag awards
To encourage intergenerational involvement
To involve young people in taking an active role in Congleton in Bloom.

How you can help

Volunteer with one of the monthly In Bloom community Town Tidies, which are usually held on the first Saturday of the month
Ask to join an It’s Your Neighbourhood (IYN) team, many have their own Facebook page and/or website and help them to look after their area.
Join the dedicated group of community gardeners, who are volunteers that design, plant up and maintain a number of award-winning gardens (the Just Bee Garden in the park, the Wellbeing Garden at Congleton War Memorial Hospital) and some borders in Congleton Park and around the town (e.g. Elizabeth’s Garden on West Road, Margaret’s Place off Antrobus St, the rose border by the cricket ground on West St, the Community Garden on Lawton St)
Join the Trees for Congleton group of volunteers, who have planted over 31,000 trees, hedges and orchards around Congleton (TreesforCongleton@gmail.com)
