Don’t miss the Green Fayre this Saturday!

The countdown is on for Congleton’s sixth annual Green Fayre, which takes place this Saturday 27 September from 10am–3pm in the town centre. Organised by Congleton Town Council and Congleton Partnership, the event is the perfect opportunity to explore environmentally friendly initiatives, engage with local businesses, and contribute to sustainability efforts. An inspiring day of fun and education, together, the community can make a difference.

Visitors can browse more than 30 stalls along the High Street, featuring environmentally friendly businesses, products, and services. The Town Hall will host the ever-popular Congleton Repair Café, alongside a free Book Swap and eco-friendly face painting for children.

Highlights include:

• The Big Clothes Movement – the sustainable fashion swap where visitors can fill a bag of pre-loved clothes for just £2. (Morning: clothes for under-5s; Afternoon: clothes for ages 5+ and women’s fashion, including fancy-dress and Halloween outfits).
• Congleton Repair Café – skilled volunteers on hand to give broken items a second life.
• Book Swap & Eco-Friendly Face Painting – fun, free, and sustainable for families.
• The Hedgemen – roaming entertainers who will delight crowds of all ages.

Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Robert Brittain, said: “This is more than a fayre – it’s a celebration of community action towards a greener future. Repairing, reusing, and supporting local businesses all play a part. We can’t wait to see residents and visitors enjoying the day together.”

Road closures: To ensure the event runs smoothly, High Street and Moody Street will be closed from 7am–6pm (no access from Market Street). Market Street will remain open for access to Morrisons and the Fairground Car Park, and bus and taxi ranks will operate as usual, exiting via Mountbatten Way.
