A Quirky Tudor Treasure
Little Moreton Hall isn’t just unusual – it’s delightfully crooked. The striking, off-kilter design of this timber-framed manor has been puzzling visitors for centuries. Even structural engineers in the 1990s were left scratching their heads. Encircled by a peaceful moat, this charming house has stood tall (and a bit sideways!) for over five centuries. Step through its wonky doors and take a journey back to Tudor times, where each creak and corner tells a story about life in a very different age.
Step Into the Past
Meet the costumed Living History team on the ground floor for a glimpse into Tudor life and traditions. Head upstairs and chat with the friendly room guides – they’re full of fascinating facts. Be sure to ask about the strange symbols etched into the wood, once believed to protect the home from dark forces.
A Garden With a Twist
Stroll through the picturesque knot garden, where herbs and vegetables once used for food and remedies still thrive. Walk along the moat’s edge and keep your eyes peeled for the wildlife that now calls this historic place home.
Time for Tea
Pop into the Little Tea Room for a sandwich and a slice of something sweet, or enjoy afternoon tea outdoors on sunny days. For a cosy escape, Mrs Dale’s Tea Room offers hearty meals, table service, and a crackling log stove during chillier weather.
Little Moreton Hall is open 10:30 am – 4:30 pm (last entry to the Hall is 4:00 pm)
